The past 6 months have passed pretty quickly with lots of administrative work and repetitive tasks like paneling and insulating.
All insulation in place
It’s been closer to 20 full pallets of insulation to complete to entire house or 45m3 of insulation in total. Lots of hours spent but it’s finally done.
Getting close to having it all done. A few slots left then only middle section left.
Only middle section left.
Insulation done!
Paneling inside
While we still haven’t even started putting the paneling in place on the loft, we’re pretty much done with all paneling on the bottom floor with all outer walls covered. We’re contemplating putting this on the inner walls as well but we’re not sure just yet.
We’re using the cheapest kind of paneling we could find which has it’s drawbacks with a bit of a rougher finish but for a workshop this is perfect. It’s 21mm thick and for anything not super heavy it’s more than enough to just fasten shelves etc. into the paneling itself.
The northern wall half way done with panels.
The eastern wall 75% done.
Workshop sink
We’ve been talking for a while about the sink in the workshop. First we were leaning towards getting a very deep and wide sink that was used in restaurants for cleaning pottery. However, it’s was quite a bit of money and when looking around at used old kitchen bench tops we found a perfect solution for very little money.
Perfect fit and that view almost looks like a framed painting!
Outside paneling
Another one of those slow moving tasks. We got all wood burnt and oiled during the warm season but have still not really finished the outside paneling. We’re down to just a few hours left but need to get our carpenter over to finish the details around windows and getting the window sills installed.
From this angle we’re pretty much done.
Not so much from this but only minor work left.
We’re finally connected to the grid
We ordered the connection to the electric grid all the way back in September of 2021. Now, about 15 months later, we’ve finally got electricity. We’re now ready to hook up our water well, the heat pump, the lights, machines and hopefully our new fiber connection really soon. In sweden it’s standard to get 3 phase power at 380 volt with a 16 amp fuse. A total allowed power draw of about 11 Kilowatts. Standard and more than enough for our needs.
The box on the outside where the main power enters the workshop.
The circuit box on the inside where the main power will be distributed from to the rest of the workshop, and in the future, the house.
Putting the electricity to good use right away; access point and router installed.
Looking forward to spring
Progress has been very slow due to various factors but we’re looking forward to spring with electricity in place and with more sunlight comes more energy. Ending this blog post with a few nice photos of the woods; A morning shot and a night shot.
Sun peeking through in the early morning hours.
Moonlight is fantastic with no stray light from surrounding buildings. Photo taken just a few minutes past midnight.
